You like Classic too ?
We say classic is GREAT !
Many people love classic cars, classic clothing, books, movies, music and more. So why would you let that go? The same goes for ASP Classic.
Advantages
There is a good reason ASP Classic is still very much alive in 2022! Microsoft still supports it on their newest platforms because there are so many ASP Classic web applications that are still in use without any problems. Why, you ask?
Well, ASP Classic has many great features, amongst which:
- highly maintainable through transparent coding (1 webpage = 1 source, not a maze of objects)
- code debugging and manipulation in live systems (in case of incidents you don't suffer from lengthy deployments)
- highly portable (copy/paste and go!)
- extremely easy LCM (life cycle management)
- scalability is easy using stateless web applications
Since ASP Classic is still available on Windows Server 2022, applications will be supported for many years to come. And most likely the next version of Windows Server will still support ASP Classic as well.
So there is no real urgency to switch to a different platform any time soon. Isn't that great news if you're looking for a way to save?
Next to all of this.... we just LOVE ASP Classic! We've been doing so for over 20 years now and it never gets old.
